What happens when a hometown you once called "Vero Zero Beach" becomes the perfect place to build your dream business? Amanda from Level Yoga takes us on her journey from skeptical local to passionate small business owner, revealing how Vero Beach transformed before her eyes into a community of extraordinary support and connection.

Growing up in Vero Beach, Amanda never imagined returning to her roots until life brought her back through marriage to another Vero native. Now, she couldn't imagine running her yoga studio anywhere else.

Amanda shares how Vero Beach rallied around Level Yoga during difficult times. From heartfelt cards and supportive messages to unexpected financial gifts, including a generous $1,000 check from someone who told her, "you're doing something right." These gestures became lifelines during uncertainty. She keeps these tokens of appreciation to read on challenging days, finding renewed purpose in the community's belief in her work.

Looking ahead, Amanda is expanding retreat offerings beyond North Carolina and revamping her 200-hour teacher training program, which has trained new instructors and transformed participants' lives.

Have you discovered a local Vero Beach business that deserves recognition? Let them know how much they mean to you; your support might be exactly what keeps their doors open and their passion alive. Subscribe to the Vero Beach Podcast for more inspiring stories from the heart of our community.

Speaker 1:

All right, well, welcome back to episode three. Today we're going to talk about we're still in the same day when we're recording this so we're not but this is episode three and we're going to be talking to Amanda talking about why Vero Beach.

Speaker 2:

Well, I did grow up here, born and raised, and it's kind of funny because I never thought I would end up back in Vero until I married my husband, who is from Vero also. You know, growing up I was that kid was like there's nothing to do in Vero. There, you know, wasn't much going on. We've heard that zero.

Speaker 1:

Vero Zero beach, zero beach.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I was just going to ask if you said that, yeah, so that's what I used to call Vero beach as well. But then you know, as I got older and we moved back and there's just so much beauty in Vero, our beaches, I mean the community, it just there's really nowhere else. I'd rather be in running a business and you know, being here and I feel like there's so much community support with small businesses, which you know, that's very important because I feel like that does make up a good part of the community.

Speaker 1:

We've been amazed. We were just down the farmer's market and people were talking to us about the podcast and they're excited and everybody knows everybody. We were just over at Seahorse Lane yesterday and some customers were really excited about the podcast or asking us questions and they said, hey, have you talked to you? Guys should reach out to Amanda over at Level Yoga. I was like no way, we're actually interviewing her tomorrow. And then the same thing happened at the farmer's market. Someone said, oh yeah, amanda from the Level Yoga is doing a podcast. I was like, actually that's where we're heading today.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's so cool I really noticed that about the area here is, the community really supports each other and I love that about this area I feel like that's so important where you know local businesses I mean, we we start really from nothing. You know, it's not like a franchise or anything like that, like basically started from nothing and had to promote and grow on our own, and you know, I just feel like these small businesses in town we just have to really stick together and support each other and I'm very much kind of aware of that. Like when I'm shopping for something, I try to go to the small local boutiques and really, you know, support one another, because that's what we need to do Absolutely.

Speaker 1:

What would you say you love most about the community?

Speaker 2:

I would have to say how supportive I know when, through the whole COVID time, how much support we had from our students. I mean they would send cards and just tell us what a great job we were doing. And you know, some would just buy a pass because they knew that that would help us keep our doors open because I still had to pay rent. You know, I had really nice gentlemen come to me one day here at the studio. I just finished teaching and gave me a check and said you're doing something right. You know, keep it up. And gave me a thousand dollars. You know things like that, like it just shows that sometimes it might not feel like we're doing good enough, but you know, then people send us a card or tell us you know great job and that that really makes us feel good that we're doing the right thing.

Speaker 1:

I hope everybody takes note of that. Like, if you really find a local business here in Bureau that really has treated you well, let them know. Even if it's like a little card, a thank you letter, a thousand dollar check, let them know it. Really it goes a lot further than you might realize.

Speaker 2:

I save all the cards that have been sent. I save them and then if I am having a down day or something where I just feel overwhelmed, I read that for inspiration to kind of remind myself to keep going. That's a good idea.

Speaker 1:

So, amanda, what's next? What's next for Level Yoga?

Speaker 2:

I'm excited to work on another retreat, probably keeping the one in North Carolina but going somewhere a little bit bigger. That is kind of in the works right now Hopefully we'll be announcing that in the next couple of months and then just revamping our 200-hour teacher training, kind of making some changes with that. I love teaching other students how to teach yoga or if they just want to learn and grow deeper in their own practice. Um, but you know, after so many years things need a little bit of a shift and change. So we're we're working on kind of revamping and changing our 200 hours.

Speaker 1:

So so what's your like? What's the 200 hours that like? Is that like a package or something like that? Is that your?

Speaker 2:

200 hour trains uh students to become teachers.

Speaker 1:

Oh, okay, gotcha.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and some people do it just because they want to do it. They don't do it, they want to teach. But there are times where I'll have a student in there and they'll say, like I'm not interested in teaching, I just want to do this to grow my own practice, and then they ended up wanting to teach. I mean, teaching yoga is not easy. There's a lot that we have to manage and do. But I always say my yoga practice like me physically practicing on my mat changed me. But also teaching yoga changed me because it really gave me confidence, it helped me find my voice, it helped change my life.

Speaker 1:

Well, Amanda, thank you so much for sitting down with us and letting us get to know a little bit about you and your business and what you're doing.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to recreate the box video at some point. Yay, but I got to find like a refrigerator box. But we have really enjoyed sitting down and getting to know you more and uh and appreciate what you're doing here in Bureau. Thank you. If you have anybody that you want to recommend, feel free to let them know about the Bureau beach podcast, or go Now you can go to my Bureau beachcom. Uh, you'll be able to find a lesson of all the neighbors that we're interviewing and for those of you that's listening, if if you guys have enjoyed this, make
