Speaker 1:

Hey neighbors, Welcome to the Vero Beach Podcast.

Speaker 2:

I'm Brian Curie.

Speaker 1:

And I am Shauna Curie.

Speaker 2:

And we are the host of this new podcast that is all about Vero Beach, which is kind of in the name right, Vero.

Speaker 1:

Beach Podcast. We made it simple for you.

Speaker 2:

Yes, so we're new to Vero Beach. Well, kind of new. We moved here in January of 2025, just this last January.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we're new residents, but we're not new Vero Beach visitors. We've been coming here for years. We love it. We love the people and the restaurants and the beaches, yeah don't forget the beaches.

Speaker 2:

We love the beaches, but we've really fallen in love with the community Like we've been, you know, as you said, we've been here, been coming here for years, always have dreamed of moving out here and then it finally happened. So here we are, but now we find ourselves wanting to connect with more locals and get to know the community more, the business leaders there's a lot of amazing musicians here.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, yeah. I think that's kind of the heart behind what we're doing here is we're ourselves learning about the local places and you know all of the great little hidden gems of Vero, and we want to share that with locals and tourists alike. We really feel it's important to support local businesses as much as possible, and we think the best way to do that is to share their stories.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, the whole mission behind this podcast isn't to have a super polished talk show. That's not what this is about at all. This is about us being able to sit across and meet our neighbors in the Vero Beach community. So the mission behind this podcast is to meet our neighbors and support local at the same time.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and I see it as a conversation with each other, who we're interviewing and the audience. That's what I'm excited about is, you know, neighbors, talk, chat, have conversations. That's what I want to do.

Speaker 2:

Well, you know, shauna, we were talking about how just earlier, about. You know we're new here, but not new to coming and visiting Vero. We've been coming for years. I think we started coming here in 2014. We started driving out to Vero Beach. Someone from Central Florida told us about it.

Speaker 1:

Oh, my goodness, I didn't realize. Yeah, I was thinking the other day like when was the first time we came here and I could not place it. It feels like it's been forever. I mean, it's been such a big part of our story.

Speaker 2:

Okay, well, let's go ahead and give a couple of shout outs, Like some of the places that we stayed at during that. I guess you would call that our in-between time, before we became actual Vero Beach residents. So what are some of the amazing Airbnbs?

Speaker 1:

Airbnbs like there's a lot of amazing Airbnbs out here Coconut Casita is a magical little gem of a place that I still dream about and it's kind of hard to book. It's very popular, but if you can get there, even living here, I still I'm going to go there again. Let's talk about restaurants. We're we're still learning, Like that's the fun thing is, through this process we're going to find so many other favorites, I know, but you know, right now we went to the or a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 2:

It was amazing amazing that place from the outside. From the street I was like I don't know. But then you go through and through the back and it is just beautiful.

Speaker 1:

The food there was incredible, just incredible, and the service was amazing we're really like.

Speaker 2:

Our goal is to get some of the people that's behind these businesses behind again. Musicians, artists, there's amazing would you call them artisans, I guess, yeah, that Our goal is to get some of the people that's behind these businesses behind again. Musicians, artists, there's amazing would you call them artisans, I guess that are all throughout here in Vero Beach that we've been connecting with. We're hoping to bring them on here so they can share their stories. The whole point of this podcast is to allow them to have a platform to come and tell us hey, how did this all start? How did you get started in this?

Speaker 1:

Wait, you're getting a little ahead. I want to talk about a few more restaurants.

Speaker 2:

Okay, Let me rewind a little bit before we get too deep into this. But yes, tell us about some more restaurants, Because you know the ore is not like you can go there every week type of.

Speaker 1:

that was a splurge for us, a kind of special occasion dinner for us. But you know we love American Icon, the service, the food, it's so much fun. What a great place.

Speaker 2:

Their team. There is amazing. I think we met one of the managers, or might have been the owner.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we're not exactly sure, but he was great and he was so open to talk to us about that. There was the automatic 18% gratuity that you know. It seemed like people were kind of fighting back against on Facebook, anyway, that's where I found out about it, um, and we started talking to him and you know, we had noticed, because we I mean, honestly, we've probably been there 20 times not since January, though, by the way like we, we like we said we've been coming to Vero for a while. That would be bad, wouldn't it? It's not even May yet. We've already been 20 times. You know, we, we just pointed out to him how good their staff was, how we had not had a bad experience, you know, since we had been coming there. And you know, he just kind of talked about how much they pour into their staff and it shows and that's all because of the gratuity too.

Speaker 2:

That helps with that. So that's the great things like. That's the kind of stories we want to bring in here as well, well, before I get into what the podcast interviews will be. Like you said about being there 20 times, I think we have been to Nino's Pizza, probably over there on the beach side probably 20 times since January.

Speaker 1:

I don't know, I don't think 20. You know what I'm?

Speaker 2:

saying With lunch and dinners, we started counting all of them. I don't know.

Speaker 1:

I can go through the bank account and tell you Okay.

Speaker 2:

Well, maybe you'll have to give us an update on the next episode on that We'll do. But yeah, we're really excited to help everybody in the community, not just the people that are already residents here, but the people that are visiting. We want to help you meet your neighbors. So another cool thing is only about seven minutes from us is the Vero Beach Farmer's Market. I would love to talk to some of the people that are running booths there, but not only that the person that put this all together Exactly.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, that's at Humiston park on Saturday mornings. We'll set, I think it's a, we'll get the times for you, but until 12 or one. But yeah, I met a really great lady there who has a little flower booth, cut flowers and she grows them all in her yard. She is so sweet and so she's lived in Vero her whole life and it's people like that. I want to talk more to people who are running businesses, creating jobs, bringing their services and products to the neighborhood, and they're just delightful people.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean. Well, we went down there just a few weeks ago and met a local artist.

Speaker 1:

Steve Dioce is his name steve diosi yep diosi diosi and he has a gallery there, right on beach side.

Speaker 2:

What a cool place very cool place and he's already. We've already talked to him. He's like yeah, I want to be a part of this, so we're looking forward to having him on the podcast later. Uh, we also met uh audrey from Seahorse.

Speaker 1:

Yes, seahorse Lane Boutique.

Speaker 2:

Yes, oh, very cool lady. Very cool story. Yeah, you guys know who she is. Have you seen the logos around where it's got the X and it has V-E-R-O? That goes all around it. Yeah, that's her brand. Very cool. We're excited that she'll be joining us later during this first season to share her story. That's what the podcast is all going to be about. So let me go and break it down. Am I good now? Am I safe to break this down a little bit Okay.

Speaker 1:

I could talk about restaurants for at least another half an hour, but yes, I think you should go ahead.

Speaker 2:

Yes, but yeah, the podcast, the way it's going to be broken down is we're going to each person we meet with business owners, nonprofits, community leaders, artists, other people that's in the community that are just doing amazing things. That makes this Vero Beach community so awesome. We're going to give them the opportunity to, first off, share how it all started for them. We want to hear their story. Number two is we're going to have them go ahead and share behind the scenes. What does their day-to-day look like? What are some challenges they've ran into? Like what? What lessons have they learned that they could pass on? That's the beautiful thing about stories that we can learn from each other. And then, lastly, we're going to ask them in part three. We're going to ask them why Vero Beach? What do you love about Vero Beach? I mean, we know the top of our list is the beach, right?

Speaker 1:

It's in the name.

Speaker 2:

So how do you not say the?

Speaker 1:

beach. I'm excited to hear these answers because I think that you know, depending on how long you've been here and what you've done and who you've met, those answers might vary a lot. So I think it's going to be really interesting to hear.

Speaker 2:

And we're excited to see where this podcast goes. There's already a lot of things and discussions of what else this can be, so we're excited to see, hey, what is going gonna happen with the podcast this year. This is gonna be more than just a podcast. This is also part of a bigger project that we'll be launching, probably in the next month, two months and it's going to be the myvirobeachcom project. So super excited about that.

Speaker 2:

So if you guys wanna learn more about that, you guys can click the link in the show notes real quickly. Just a highlight about what that's going to be that's going to be a directory where you can go if you're a resident or if you're a visitor, someone that's visiting for vacation or just coming to see hang out with their friends for a while. You can go to the myvirobeachcom website and you're going to be able to find all the businesses and the artists and musicians that we've interviewed. You're going to be able to find a page for each one of them. You're going to be able to search your neighbors and say, hey, I want, I'm interested in finding neighbors that are restaurants and or musicians and find out more about them and listen to their story right there. So there's a lot of cool things that we're putting into place, but most of all, this is all for the community. It's for Vero Beach I guess you'd say hyper local.

Speaker 1:

I'm super excited to really make this all about Vero Beach. Part of the reason why we want to do this is because we understand that. You know, with busy schedules and busy lives, sometimes it's hard to figure out like where how to shop local. It's so convenient to run into a Walmart, you know, any time of the day or night running to target, and there are so many things that you can buy a better quality, sometimes even of a comparable price, but buy it from someone local. And so we feel like the more people understand the stories of these business owners and the story of how that business came to be, it can help you think about those local things and plan ahead when you need to to be able to keep these, these places, in business. It's such an important part of our community and you know Vero beaches story that it's something that we're trying to work on for ourselves and we thought other people would like to learn along with us.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I love, like you know, again, the whole mindset like for us is we're new here, we're learning, getting to know people, we want to get to know more people in the community and the hearts behind what they do, and it's not only about shopping local, it's about supporting locals.

Speaker 2:

So it's like you have that was our dishwasher, so we're recording right in our kitchen right now. But it's not just about shopping. It's about supporting supporting locals. So when you have local musicians playing like you want to go support them. You know, I know not all of us can buy local because the prices might be high. We understand that. But you can support local in different ways, just like us with this podcast. This is a way for us to help support local.

Speaker 2:

So if you're listening and you're like, hey, this sounds like an interesting podcast, make sure you go ahead and hit that. I think it's a follow or subscribe, I don't know, but hit that button that says hey, I want to hear more of this and we would love for you to leave us a review later. Now, if you have anybody that comes to your thoughts and you're like, hey, you know what, this would be a perfect person to have on their podcast. I need to let them know. A podcast, I need to let them know.

Speaker 2:

You have two ways you can let us know. If you look in the show notes, you can quickly just click a link there to text us the message. Now we can't text you back, but the text will go right to us. You just send us that person's name, the company web address, whatever it might be, and then let them know hey, the people from this Vero Beach podcast is going to be reaching out to you. So that's step number one. Number two is you can follow us on Instagram. Just look up myvirobeachcom. It's actually spelled out, dot.

Speaker 1:

Oh, yeah, dot com, I like that, but yeah, just go search up myvirobeachcom.

Speaker 2:

Our Instagram is brand new, but you're going to continue to see it to grow because we have big plans in store for that as well. And look, before you go, make sure you tell your friends. I'll start start spreading the word. Help us spread the word. Support our local podcast by telling your friends about the Vero Beach podcast. That's new, it's being launched and I think there's going to be a place for everybody on this. And keep your eye out for the myverobeachcom project that'll be launching in the next couple of months.

Speaker 1:

That's right, okay, thanks for listening. See you neighbor.
